Hi there!

Today I’m sharing a fun and very easy project that is perfect for those small little hands that are eager to learn their alphabet. This project uses the Silhouette Chalkboard Cardstock.

Supplies Used:

Silhouette CAMEO®

Silhouette Chalkboard Cardstock

1. Create Background Paper

I always begin my projects by designing them fully in Silhouette software. I will often take a screenshot of the final design so that I can refer back to it when assembling my project.

For the background of my page, I wanted to create a simple elementary-grade-style paper with the blue lines that you find in children’s workbooks.

I created lines spaced approx. 1/2 in. apart (using the line tool on the left side menu). Some are dashed while others are solid and a bit thicker.

Once the lines were spaced apart evenly, I made sure that they fit nicely onto the 12 in. x 12 in. background design.  I then colored the lines green and used a blue sketch pen to draw the lines onto the cream colored paper.  After the lines were drawn, I cut out the design.

2. Cut out Chalkboard Letters

I created lines for the alphabet and made sure that they fit accordingly onto the 12 in. x 12 in. background design and then I cut them out of the chalkboard cardstock.

I used an 11 in. x 8.5 in. landscape mode in order to fit the letters onto the cardstock completely.  Some letter needed to be shifted around so that they could all fit (i.e. “k” and “v”).

3. Adhere Letters to Background

Once the letters were cut, I simply adhered them to the lined background paper that I created.

Tip: This is where that original screenshot of my project comes in handy for the placement of the letters.  You will want to use a ruler to line them up evenly before fully adhering them to the background page.  If you put them down and they’re not lined up, you risk ripping your paper when pulling them off.

Finished project is super fun (for kids of all ages!!)

The eraser that comes in the chalkboard kit is super handy, too.  It erases the chalkiness perfectly!!

I hope this cute little project has inspired you to use the Silhouette Chalkboard Cardstock or even the Chalkboard Vinyl for your projects!
