Meet our featured artist, Anne Garton, a talented designer based in a charming village on the east coast of the UK, also known as Treasured Templates, in the Silhouette Design Store. With 20 years of crafting experience, her journey has been one of creativity and passion. She’s been happily married to Mark for nearly 30 years and is a proud mum to her grown-up daughter, Alesha, as well as a cat lover with a feline companion named Tiggi.

Her love for crafting knows no bounds, but paper crafting holds a special place in her heart. Over the years, she has expanded her skills, teaching herself to crochet and mastering digital drawing with Procreate on the iPad. Today, she channels her creativity into designing cutting files, sublimation designs, and backing papers, offering a wide array of beautiful resources for fellow crafters.

She’s thrilled to share her designs with you and is always happy to help if you have questions or need guidance. Browse her creations and discover the artistry that inspires so many!

How long have you been a Silhouette user?

I’ve been using cutting machines since about 2008/2009 after seeing it on the tv and loving what it could do.

How would you describe yourself as an artist? What’s your creative style?

I don’t really have a style but if I had pinpoint one then it would probably be perfectionism. I cannot do messy, things have to be clean and as perfect as I can possibly get them.

Tell us about your artistic career. How did you get your start?

I don’t have any formal qualifications but I’ve always been creative, art was the one lesson I absolutely loved at school, it allowed me to express my creativity and it has always been my happy place.

When did you start designing files for the Silhouette Design Store?

I’m very new here, I’ve only been part of this amazing Silhouette family since October 2024.

What is the design you’re proudest of?

I have so many that I’m proud of, one of them being the Pirate Ship

Where do you find creative inspiration?

I find inspiration from all sorts of places, from household objects to things I see on the tv and in the streets, I might see a really beautiful ornate fence and it gets my brain thinking. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so I work in millimetres on Silhouette Studio, because if something is even 1mm out I will see it.

How do you overcome creative blocks?

I take a little time out and do some crochet or drawing and then I come back refreshed and able to focus on new designs.

What’s your favorite thing about what you do?

I specialize in designing 3D models, these have to be as millimetre perfect as possible for them to go together correctly and I just love it when the ‘puzzle’ comes together.  I love a challenge.

What advice do you have for artists just starting out?

Learn your craft, mistakes will happen but it’s only paper and you can start again and make it even better.
