Looking for a fun way to personalize your home decor? Or perhaps a sweet gift for a friend? This DIY Hoop Art is simple to create using a fun print and cut design and the printable cotton fabric.
Supplies Needed:
- CAMEO, Portrait, or Curio
- Printable Cotton Fabric & printer
- Embroidery Hoop
- Embroidery Floss
- Embroidery Needle
- Scissors
- Cutting mat
Step 1: Create your design in the Silhouette studio. I chose this pretty kite and added text and a circle. Select the fill option at the top of the software to fill the text for printing.
Step 2: Insert printable cotton fabric into printer and print.
Step 3: In the software, highlight the designs you don’t want cut out (the kite and text) and select the no cut option. This way the only thing being cut out is the circle frame for your hoop art.
Step 4: Select Printable cotton fabric as the material type and change blade to recommended depth. Then insert your mat and cut out design.
Step 5: Remove Design from mat.
Step 6: Remove paper backing off of fabric.
Step 7: Insert into hoop.
Step 8: Leave as is or add some fun stitching for added detail. This would be a great spring break or summertime craft to do with the kiddos!

You can use it with vinyl as long as it is smooth and flat to allow the static charge to hold on to it. Rolled vinyl that wants to go back to its rolled shape will not necessarily work well, and it would need to be trimmed to fit the ES mat cutting area.

Yes, you can use the heat pen while using the ES mat. 🙂

Once you’ve pushed the mat up against the rollers, just press the “Load” arrow button (bottom right on the display). Does a regular sticky mat load into the machine for you?
