Hello, I am Marcia and I come from beautiful Greece. Silhouette Design Store has given me the opportunity to become a member of its creative team since 2017 and I am really proud to be part of this amazing community that unites designers all over the world. I work as a freelancer designer since 2016 and I have studied both communication and visual arts.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
My main inspiration comes from feelings. I want my designs to be meaningful. That’s why I enjoy creating quotes. They tell the story both ways: visually and verbally. A short message can bring great joy, hope or memories back to people. Or inspiration. When as designer I combine text and graphics even a short message can mean a lot. So it really goes with what do I want to create today? Which emotion or feeling or mood would I love to share?
What have been your favorite types of designs to create?
I love creating quotes, combining typography and graphic elements because they are vey straightforward as messages. They are easy to produce as a final product and have many applications: t-shirts home decor, mugs. So apart from being direct, they are practical in many ways for the final user. And as a designer I always think “how can I make it easier for the final user to create this?”
Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial idea to the finished piece?
Usually I find the quote that inspires me and then I use Adobe Illustrator to edit the text and create the styling. Some graphics can be created within Illustrator but for more complex drawing I transfer the file to procreate and design there. Then the file is transferred again to Illustrator to vectorise all elements and give it the final touch.
How would you describe your style, and how has it changed over time?
I believe my style is cute with a lot floral and calligraphic elements. It has a lot of curves and flourishes. I enjoy designing for kids and women and I do believe that this is clearly reflected to my designs. Over time I think new tools and programs such as Procreate make it easier for designers to offer more products. So I can’t say that my style has changed over time but my interests have widen. So I also enjoy creating stickers for planners, coloring pages, card covers, templates. I really enjoy drawing by hand and experimenting with new brushes and color palettes.
In conclusion, designing allows me to share emotions, creativity, and practical solutions with others. Whether crafting meaningful quotes or exploring new mediums like stickers and templates, I aim to create designs that inspire and resonate with people. Being part of the SilhouetteDesignStore.com and embracing the evolving tools of design has broadened my artistic journey, and I’m excited to continue creating pieces that connect with others on both a visual and emotional level.
