About Jennifer:
Jennifer Wambach’s artistic journey began with a permanent marker and a basement floor, sparking a lifelong passion for creativity. Growing up in the scenic rural landscapes of western New York, she found inspiration in the natural world and the animals that surrounded her — influences that continue to shape her art, often sprinkled with quirky humor. Today, Jennifer’s designs are a beloved part of the SilhouetteDesignStore.com catalog, showcasing her unique artistic style and versatility.
Jennifer’s formal training in traditional art led to a BFA in painting and drawing, and her creative process always begins with a simple pencil sketch. From there, she combines traditional media like watercolor and pen with modern digital tools such as Procreate, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Photo to craft her final pieces. Notably, her work is all created by hand, as Jennifer proudly avoids AI, infusing every piece with human warmth and authenticity.
Her work, represented by the Artistic Designs Group, has appeared on products for major retailers like Target, Hallmark, and Hobby Lobby, spanning greeting cards, fabric, dinnerware, and more. Since joining the Silhouette Design Store in 2010, Jennifer has contributed over 5,000 designs, cementing her place as one of the store’s most prolific and beloved designers.
Jennifer lives in suburban Chicago, IL, with her family and a delightful mix of pets that often inspire her art. Always seeking new creative adventures, she continues to find joy in bringing her imaginative ideas to life.

How long have you been a Silhouette user?
I’ve been experimenting with Silhouette machines since 2009 when my husband surprised me with one of the very first models for my birthday.
How would you describe yourself as an artist? What’s your creative style?
My artistic interests are a hodgepodge of styles and mediums! I love bright colors, flowers, animals, whimsical designs, boho aesthetics, midcentury patterns, and tiny details. Puns and humor also play a big role in my work, making it difficult to pin down my style in just one word.

Tell us about your artistic career. How did you get your start?
I earned a BFA in painting and drawing, which led to a graphic design career. My clients included United Airlines, Claire’s, and Colonial Candle. By night, I pursued my passion for art, illustrating children’s books and participating in art shows around Chicago. Today, my work is represented by Artistic Designs Group and can be found on a variety of products in stores like Target and Hobby Lobby.
When did you start designing files for the Silhouette Design Store?
In late summer 2010, shortly after the Silhouette Design Store launched. Many of my earliest designs were created while I balanced motherhood, often working with my newborn baby on my lap—who’s now a teenager!

What is the design you’re proudest of?
Two stand out: “Come to the Nerd Side – We Have Pi” and “Stay Weird.” These designs capture my love of cats, humor (a mustachioed cat!), and math puns all in one.
Where do you find creative inspiration?
My biggest inspirations are my pets, family, and nature—especially flowers.

How do you overcome creative blocks?
I take a break and try something entirely different. If a sketch frustrates me, I might embroider for a while or take the dog for a walk. Walking is particularly effective for clearing my mind and finding fresh ideas.
What’s your favorite thing about what you do?
I love that I get to draw anything my imagination dreams up, from silly concepts to intricate designs. Knowing my artwork resonates with others and has been part of so many projects is incredibly rewarding.

What advice do you have for artists just starting out?
Take the time to develop strong drawing skills—they’re the foundation of everything. And remember, drawing is a skill anyone can learn; it’s about training your eyes to truly see, not just replicating what you think you know.

Jennifer’s dedication to her craft and her contributions to the SilhouetteDesignStore.com reflect her boundless creativity and passion for art. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or just starting your creative journey, her story is an inspiring reminder to embrace the adventure of artistry.
