These adorable dish towels make a fun statement in your home and are so easy to create using the stencil material and fabric ink! Here’s how you can create your own too!
Supplies:
- Silhouette CAMEO®
- Silhouette Studio®
- Red fabric ink
- Stencil material (and included transfer material)
- Paint sponge
- Dish towels
- Hook tool
- Scraper
Step One
Prepare your design in Silhouette Studio®. I added rectangles around my images so that I have a border area to protect the material I will be stenciling on.
Step Two
Select “Stencil Material” in your Cut Settings window. Once selected, the appropriate blade depth settings will be suggested.
Step Three
Place stencil material on cutting mat and insert into machine. Select appropriate blade depth before inserting blade into slot. Proceed to cut design.
Step Four
Remove mat and use the hook tool to weed the stencil material. Weeding is the process of removing all of the areas on the stencil that you would like to eventually fill with paint.
Step Five
Peel backing off transfer material and apply to the top of the stencil.
Step Six
Use a scraper to secure design to transfer material.
Step Seven
Apply transfer material and start applying fabric ink. I recommend using a sponge dauber and using a little product at a time to prevent bleeding.
Step Eight
Let the paint dry and remove stencil.
Now you have some fun holiday home decor or a great DIY gift idea!

You can use it with vinyl as long as it is smooth and flat to allow the static charge to hold on to it. Rolled vinyl that wants to go back to its rolled shape will not necessarily work well, and it would need to be trimmed to fit the ES mat cutting area.

Yes, you can use the heat pen while using the ES mat. 🙂
