Gloria Uhler—Domestic Diva, Crafter, And Creator

My name is Gloria Uhler, creator of Domestic-Diva. I’m originally from MA but now live in Southern CA. I’m happy to say I don’t remember what a snow shovel looks like.

For some people, crafts are a hobby. For me, it’s oxygen. I love all types of crafts but am currently working on creating my own stencils for polymer clay, jewelry making, and airbrush painting. I’m excited about inventing new techniques that change the way crafters work.

I spent years wishing there were a machine I could use to cut my own stencil designs for airbrush painting. My dreams were realized in 2010. I got my first Silhouette machine for Christmas that year. The best Christmas ever!

Innovating With Silhouette Curio™

I started working with the Silhouette Curio™ last year and discovered I could cut clay with it! That discovery opened up a whole world of design possibilities and techniques for me.

I don’t specialize in one particular craft. For me, it’s about which tools I feel like playing with on any given day. Inevitably, stencils, clay, jewelry, and my airbrush are on my work table most of the time.

I like clean contemporary lines and generally don’t work on projects that are homespun. I appreciate them. I just don’t have that homespun gene.

Finding Inspiration Everywhere

Inspiration comes from everywhere. I walk through the craft stores and browse Pinterest for creative infusion. Or sometimes it comes in the shower!

No matter what craft materials I use for projects, the foundation for nearly everything I do begins with the Silhouette Studio®. In 2016, I published my full color, 90-page book “Hinged Clay Bracelets” using nothing but the software. It was easy to create all the page layouts and tweak all the photos. I’m insanely passionate about this software.

Follow your intuition. When it comes to creativity, there is no right or wrong, there’s only your way.

I guess I would have to say my favorite machine is the Silhouette Curio™—no, wait! I love my CAMEO and do a lot of work with it. I would have to say it’s my favorite. Or not. It’s hard to decide. Please don’t make me! 🙂
