Where do you find inspiration for your designs?

I find inspiration absolutely everywhere: cafes, shops, nature.  Usually I have many more ideas floating around my head than I know what to do with!

Living beside a small lake offers endless creative fuel.  Flowers, animals, and nature are my absolute favorite things to draw.  We typically have herons, foxes, deer and even river otters come to visit.  On pretty days, you’ll often find me outside, sketching while overlooking the serene lake.

How would you describe your style, and how has it changed over time?

When I first started designing, I ran a vinyl decal sticker shop. To stand out, I began creating my own mandala and floral animal decals. Once I discovered my passion for designing, I decided to close my sticker shop to focus entirely on what I love most—drawing.

Over time, I’ve discovered my love for also creating retro, trendy, and holiday designs.  Holiday crafting is one of my favorite pastimes, especially when it comes to making Christmas ornaments and gifts!

How is your personality reflected in your work?

I’m a happy, optimistic person.  You’ll see that reflected in my art with plenty of cute happy designs and beautiful colors. I also love to spend quality time reading, so you’ll find plenty of bookish designs in my store!

Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial idea to the finished piece?

I start my creative process with a good cup of coffee and a general idea of what I want to create. Inspiration often takes over, and I can find myself drawing for hours.  My go to software is Adobe Illustrator.  I love drawing with the pencil tool and utilizing shapes to create something new and beautiful.  I also use Procreate on my iPad, especially for pretty colorful designs.

Once I’ve finished a collection of designs, I review and refine each cut line to make sure the design cuts perfectly on your machine.

What have been your favorite types of designs to create?

My favorite designs to create are intricate florals and mandalas. These designs are quite challenging to create. They require creativity, technical drawing skills, and through testing to ensure a perfect cut.  I love refining each tiny detail to make sure the design cuts flawlessly on your machine. And yes, I’ve weeded every intricate design myself!

When did you realize that you wanted to be an artist and what inspired you?

I’ve always been creative.  I won my first coloring contest at age 3.  Drawing and creativity have been a vital part of my life.  I’ve experimented with every medium, from paint and clay to wood and fabric and now most often paper and vinyl!  I always feel a sense of magic when creating something unique and beautiful from everyday supplies.
